3-Wheelers.com Reliant Scale Model History

The History of the Model: 2. The first official Lledo designs

Time passed by and in April 2002 I e-mailed Lledo again for an update on their pricing and at this point I was still after a sponsor. By May 2002 I had accepted the fact that a sponsor was not going to come forward and so decided I would continue with the project alone with the help of a bank loan.

In the same month I contacted Lledo again and a lady there (Lesley Lawton) of whom I would share dozens more e-mails with suggested that for a small fee Lledo produced either a hand decorated sample or a 3D image of the model so that I could gauge what interest in the model there may be.

I sent Lledo my idea of a design and at the time had a chrome effect on the 3-wheelers.com logo. As this would use 4 colours and so involve more printing plates ( hence more cost) Lledo sent me three designs of the model.

The first was a model with the 3-wheelers.com logo using white and four colours to create a chrome effect on the logo.  The second was just a 2 colour logo (silver and black) whilst the third design used silver, black and white for the logo. To me the third design looked the best choice and so I chose that one.
